Given our most recent book, I thought you might be interested in Steve McCoy’s Mission to Suburbia resource page.

I have that page bookmarked. Joe Thorn’s post (that you commented on) is really helpful to.
BTW, are you “allowed” to comment? =)
I am not sure of my involvement in the next book, even though it seems interesting, I have a lot of reading to do in this genre over the next couple months. I am going to try though – especially since it is relevant to ministry and my community.

I’m still trying to figure out how Death by Suburb became the next selection, instead of getting knocked off the list.

See the Bylaws, rule #8. Technically, I guess there were 3 books decided in the space of 2 nomination cycles, given that we decided books 1 & 2 during one cycle… Nevertheless, DbS was decided within 2 nomination cycles.

I agree Ben… but I already had this conversation. I even voted (I think), although many didn’t… to have the list cleared each time. I want to read the book, but I am torn since I have to read books like this for class and ministry things… and I like this as an outlet for books that aren’t overtly – “Christian” – I think it is healthy to have to dig for Christian themes in some non-Christian sources.
However, I think it would be interesting discussing this book here… although given the fact that it is likely more “epistle-esque” – I.E. more straight-forward and overt, those discussion may be longer and more obvious than digging through a book that has hidden themes and motifs.
With all that said, my Greek prof last year read the book as part of his staff’s leadership development at the church he pastors and recommended it highly. However, I also think Chris cheated because he already read it before nominating it. It is like me nominating Til We Have Faces (which probably wouldn’t get a passing vote since Ben doesn’t like C.S. Lewis fiction).

If that’s the case, I cheated on a couple of nominations during NOBC1

If my memory serves me correctly, you only had a couple of nominations… hmmm.

Actually, I can only think of two right now, for some reason – Ender’s Game and Under the Banner of Heaven. I thought I had at least 3 nominations read last time…

Mind wide open… which I didn’t end up reading – couldn’t get past the second chapter for some reason.

Must… resist… obvious… joke…
Oh, that’s right. My “klunker”, to some

You know, since Tato brought up the bylaws vote in which very few people participated, I have been meaning to say that I think we should do it over. Personally, I would like to change my vote. I voted not to clear the nomination list but now that I have seen it in action I think we should clear it. The way it is now is too confusing.

We can do that… if I don’t set it up in a few days, just add a comment here to remind me…
